MC_01 is equipment for sitting and listening: a lounge chair that makes the audio system part of the furniture instead of something placed beside it. A continuous 2″ polished stainless tube defines the whole form; the cylindrical headrest carries the speaker at ear height; black upholstery over large, simple cushion volumes keeps the technology quiet.

Every driver fires through upholstery, so the covering had to disappear acoustically. Ultrafabrics Brisa is close to fully transparent to sound, which means foam and fabric can sit in front of a driver without muffling it, and the leather needs no perforation anywhere on the chair.

The backrest is the subwoofer enclosure: a Baltic birch box carrying a Pioneer TS-A2000LD2 that fires into your back through a printed grille, foam and Brisa. The neckrest is a printed enclosure holding two Dayton Audio RS100-4 full-range drivers, aimed slightly off axis to your ears.

A Fosi BT30D Pro and a 48 V supply sit in an actively cooled aluminum box set into the seat cushion, far enough back that it is never felt. Two knobs on the side of the cushion: the first clicks the system on through a relay and then turns for volume, the second is a bass control soldered directly to the amplifier board. Getting those controls off the board and into the chair was the hardest part of the build.

CNC-cut plywood, foam and Brisa over a frame modeled in CAD before anything was cut. Finished, the chair weighs around 98 lb, runs off a coiled heavy-duty cable, and took roughly $3,400 in material and somewhere between five and eight hundred hours.
